On behalf of the officers and board members of the Capital District Black and Hispanic Bar Association (CDBHBA), to members and attorneys that support our efforts to advocate for our growing population.

It is that time of the year to elect the CDBHBA slate of officers and directors for 2015-16. The Nominating Committee is comprised of:

The slate of candidates will be voted on at our next General body meeting/Holiday party to be held at Will Little’s home on December 17, 2014 (more details TBA).

While we have a nucleus of strong contributors on the board whose main focus is strengthening the organization and working to realize our potential, we recognize that this is best achieved with a full and energetic board that includes new ideas and contributions. We urge you to seriously consider applying for any of the 11 board positions listed below.

By Monday December 1st, please express your interest to any of the members of the Nominating Committee mentioned above or address your interest directly to Nominations Committee Chair Frank Munoz at or at CDBHBA, P.O. Box 5252, Albany, NY 12205. A brief bio with an explanation of interest should be included in your email.

DETAILS: This event is hosted by the Capital District Black and Hispanic Bar Association (CDBHBA) and is co-sponsored by the Albany County Bar Association (ACBA), the Capital District Women’s Bar Association (CDWBA), the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) and the Schenectady County Bar Association (SCBA).

A light dinner buffet and beverages will be served. The cost to attend is $35 for non-members, $25 for members and $5.00 for law students.

General Membership Meeting April 5

Please join us for a general membership meeting on Thursday, April 5th at 6pm, at the New York State Bar Association, One Elk Street in Albany.  Lillian Moy of The Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York and Lisa Frisch of The Legal Project will be speaking on their respective programs and the pro bono opportunities they offer. Come and learn how you can get involved!

General body meetings take place every other month from September to May, usually at the State Bar Association Building in Albany.  Check our “Events” page for news on upcoming events and photos from previous events. 

Please consider joining the CDBHBA, where you can:

In recent months, the CDBHBA has participated in several youth and the law days at Albany High School,  hosted several community guest speakers at their bi-montly meetings, and hosted a Cinco de Mayo minority networking event.
